Growing up in rural Ontario, Lynda spent much time outdoors, exploring nature, igniting her curiosity and wonder. After moving to Alberta in 1999 and becoming a mother, she was excited to share these experiences with her children in the stunning Canadian Rockies.
Navigating trails with young kids posed challenges, often raising questions about safety and suitability. This inspired her to write her first book, Take a Hike with Your Children, in 2011.
It became a Canadian bestseller, selling over 10,000 copies, and pioneered the family hiking guide genre. The key to the success of this book was the unique trail rating system she developed based on children’s walking abilities. In addition, she identified stroller-friendly trails to make hiking accessible for families.
